Nursery Admissions

Wolviston Primary School has a 26 place Nursery and we are pleased to offer 30 hours funded childcare for all eligible families. Children are usually admitted the term following their third birthday and are phased in over a number of weeks. If you would like to apply for a Nursery place for your child please contact the school directly.

Please note nursery places will be offered to children in the following order:

1  Looked After Children or previously Looked After Children

Children living within our admission zone (proof of address will be requested)

3  Children with siblings in school at the time of their admission

4  Children living out of the admission zone, by distance from school (as the crow flies)

You many need to register for multiple nurseries if the school you would like to attend has no places. Stockton on Tees Local Authority: Families Information Service can help. Contact the Families Information Service

Please note: Attendance at Wolviston Nursery does not guarantee a place in our Reception class.

School Places
Most children start primary school in the September after their fourth birthday. This means they will turn 5 during their first school year. Stockton on Tees Local Authority is responsible for admissions to Wolviston Primary School, not the school. The Published Admission Number (PAN) for Wolviston Primary School Reception class is 15. We are often oversubscribed, which means more applications than places available. Places will be allocated in accordance to Stockton on Tees Admissions Policy. Admission for September 2023

If your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019, you should apply for a primary school place in 2022. You child will start school in September 2023. Applications will open in November 2022 and close on 15th January 2023.

As part of the application process, parents and carers will be able to select up to 3 preferred schools. We strongly recommend that 3 different schools are listed to give the best chance of a place at a preferred school being offered. If parents and carers are unsure which 3 schools to choose, visits to individual schools, to help you decide before the applications close, can be arranged.

Mid Year Admissions
Throughout the year we receive requests for pupils to join Wolviston in different year groups. All such transfers are dealt with by the Local Authority and the Headteacher. Decisions concerning transfers depend upon the number of pupils already on roll in the requested year group. Due to increasing pressure on numbers, places are not guaranteed to parents moving into the school’s admission zone, if the year group is already full.

Please Note: Our admissions and any appeals are administered by Stockton Borough Council not the school directly. If you have any queries please ring Admissions & Appeals on Tel: 01642 528228 or email: Admissions.Appeals@stockton.gov.uk
